Description:

Raybec Communications is looking to add a Unix/Linux Systems administator to join our web application development team. This staff member will streamline, secure and standardize our systems and procedures that are based on LAMP stack web programming (where P = Perl). This person will allow the programmers to concentrate on programming and give both the programmers and our end users a stable IT experience.

If you are the right candidate, you:

  • live in the Toronto area
  • have a minimum of 2 years experience administering Unix or Linux systems
  • take pride in everything you do
  • handle multiple projects at one time
  • are comfortable asking the questions you need to ask in order to get the job done right
  • have proven experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • are comfortable working both in a team and self-managed environment

Required skills:

  • Unix/Linux sysadmin skills, with preference to RHEL 4
  • Perl 5 programming and administration (able to install and use CPAN modules, data processing and systems administration scripts, DBI Perl programming)
  • Apache 2.2 web server configurations (w/mod_perl, mod_rewrite and other extensions)
  • MySQL database administration (backups, usage monitoring, rights and permissions)
  • Server monitoring (nagios) with an eye towards maintainability and relevance
  • Networking and firewalling skills applied to both our internal office network and our colo servers
  • Email server administration, including possibly MS Exchange Server on Windows Server 2003
